Artistic Profile: Radio Macandé

Artistic Style

Radio Macandé stands out for its fusion of flamenco, Andalusian pop and urban sounds, creating its own elegant style that draws on the flamenco tradition and popular music of southern Spain. Their songs combine danceable rhythms, emotional lyrics and a contemporary sensibility, always maintaining a deep Andalusian root. Throughout their career, they have evolved from a Flemish base to a more melodic pop that is open to Italian and electronic influences, without losing their southern identity..

Biographical Summary

Radio Macandé was originally formed in La Línea de la Concepción (Cádiz) by Juan Medina (Juanillo) —composer, vocalist and guitarist— and Juan Luis Mendoza (Pipi) —guitarist, backing vocalist and composer. Friends since childhood, they started playing flamenco together and toured Andalusia before launching into the national scene. In 2002 they debuted with their eponymous album, achieving great success with more than 35,000 copies sold and emblematic songs such as “Give me your kisses”. His second album, “Mi Niña Morena” (2004), represented an evolution towards a more pop sound produced by Ludovico Vagnone. After the departure of Juanillo, replaced by Raúl Rubiales (Raule), the group continued to release albums such as “Buena Onda” (2007) and “Soy Callejero” (2009), consolidating its presence in Spanish music. In 2023, Pipi resumed the project with new singles and collaborations.
