His recording debut was in 1963, but success came to him starting in 1970 with “La Prima Cosa Bella”, reaching definitive success when he won the Sanremo Music Festival in 1971 and 1972. He represented Italy in Eurovision in 1972 and became an idol in Latin America during the 70s and 80s, recording in Spanish and touring extensively. His hits include “Il Cuore è Uno Zingaro”, “Wanderer”, “Guitar sounds lower”, “My heart is a gypsy” and “Rosa”.
